
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 34

and Oliverio)
Requesting the Governor designate the week of August 1 through
August 7, annually, as Marine Corps League Week and August 4,
annually, as Marine Corps League Day.

Whereas, West Virginians over the years have chosen to serve
in the United States Marine Corps in large numbers; and

Whereas, West Virginians have served in the Marine Corps with
distinction and many of them have given their full measure of
devotion to their state and country; and

Whereas, There is a need for some symbol of recognition for
the many thousands of West Virginia citizens who are and were
Marines; and,

Whereas, The Department of the Marine Corps League, with 17
detachments located throughout the state and consisting of nearly
1,000 members, is desirous that the week of August 1 through August
7, annually, be designated as Marine Corps League Week and that
August 4, annually, be designated as Marine Corps League Day;
therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature hereby requests the Governor designate
the week of August 1 through August 7 as Marine Corps League Week and August 4 as Marine Corps League Day each year; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor, the
President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Delegates and
selected committees.
